TAKING CARE

OF YOUR TREASURE

Vintage china, especially the types with metallic trim, needs extra TLC.

NEVER:

Put it in a dishwasher

Use steel wool or brillo scrubbers

ALWAYS:

Wash it by hand

Use a rubber liner in the sink if possible

Dry and carefully wrap for storage

DO NOT:

Soak something that has crazing, a hairline crack or chips. Water can cause even more permanent damage under the glaze!

Did you know the most common reason for crazing of the glaze is tempurature fluctuations? The old-time glazes are unable to withstand expanding and contracting which occurs with change in tempurature. Once it's started, the only way to keep the damage from spreading is to not use the piece and to not put any further stress on it.
